About Novel Nimbus
Novel Nimbus is a hand-curated directory of complete fantasy and LitRPG book series — series that are fully published, with no ongoing books waiting to be released. The site is run by Cal Wren and currently lists 458 series across genres including epic fantasy, LitRPG, romantasy, dungeon core, and progression fantasy.
About Cal Wren
Cal Wren has been reading fantasy and LitRPG for over a decade. Novel Nimbus started as a personal reading list — a way to find new series without getting drawn into another half-finished saga — and grew into a public directory.
What “complete” means
Every series on Novel Nimbus is complete by the following standard: the final book has been published, and there is no announced continuation at the time the series was added. In practice this is a judgment call. Some series wrap with a clear sense of being finished; others stop without ceremony but never get a sequel; a few have been declared finished by their author and then resurrected years later. When that happens the directory is updated to reflect the new state. If a series has shifted from “complete” to “ongoing” since it was listed, the corrections email below is the fastest way to flag it.
How series are added
Series are added manually after Cal Wren reads, samples, or researches them. The bar for inclusion is twofold: the series has to be complete by the standard above, and it has to fit the fantasy or LitRPG-adjacent space. Reader suggestions sent to the corrections email are welcome, but every entry is verified before listing — the directory does not accept submissions sight unseen.
Where the stats come from
Per-book stats — page count, audiobook length, release date — are sourced from Amazon and refreshed periodically. Editorial overview text on each series page is written by Cal Wren. The “similar series” recommendation rankings are computed algorithmically (see below), not editorially curated.
How recommendations work
The “similar series” lists on each detail page are generated automatically by comparing a series against the rest of the directory using shared genres, tags, and contributors, weighted by overlap and adjusted for series length. Rankings are recomputed as the catalog grows, so the same series can appear higher or lower over time as the directory changes around it. Each recommendations page shows the specific genres and tags used to compute its results.
